The political chattering class' favorite quadrennial activity is guessing who the Vice Presidential selection will be for Presidential contenders. Often that parlor game surrounds looking for clues — no matter how small or seemingly insignificant at first glance — in VP short lister's schedules.

In that vein, a potential hint at who might NOT be the pick came today in the form of a press release from the American Conservative Union (ACU), who is hosting a regional Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Denver a day after the first Presidential debate is held at DU.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – American Conservative Union (ACU) Chairman Al Cardenas today announced that Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal will address CPAC Colorado – the second regional Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) for 2012. Scheduled for Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the Crowne Plaza Denver International Airport, CPAC Colorado will energize and mobilize Mountain West conservatives, giving them the tools needed to defeat the liberal agenda in 2012, while also highlighting rising conservative stars and issues in the region. Online registration is now available at conservative.org.

“We are delighted that Governor Jindal will be a featured speaker at CPAC Colorado,” said ACU Chairman Al Cardenas. “Governor Jindal has shown great leadership in Louisiana, fighting for education and ethics reform and spurring economic growth by eliminating burdensome taxes.”

If Governor Jindal is scheduling events for October already, is it fair to assume he won't be Governor Romney's VP choice? After all, Romney is attending the first Presidential debate at DU only the day before, and it wouldn't make sense for the VP candidate to speak in Colorado a day afterwards.

Of course, this could be a false flag, as Jindal could easily cancel were he chosen. Additionally, Senator Marco Rubio has been invited to speak at CPAC Colorado, though he has yet to confirm his attendance.

As with much of this guessing game, it could mean something. It could mean nothing. Either way, chattering classes: chatter away.
