In an effort to give our readers insight into how the Presidential campaign is playing out in the newly-important primary state of Colorado we will be covering the campaigns as they descend on this state, eager to lock up supporters ahead of Colorado's February 7th precinct caucuses. We received word this week that Ron Paul is opening a field office in Denver, hosting an Open House on Sunday.  An email from the Paul campaign says the office is at 2955 Ulster Street, #101 in the Stapleton neighborhood.
While other campaigns have appointed Colorado chairs of their campaign, Paul's field office is the first we've heard of a campaign putting down physical roots in the Centennial State. In Colorado in 2008, Ron Paul came in 4th in the precinct caucus straw poll, taking 8.4% of the statewide vote. He performed strongest in notoriously libertarian Gilpin County, coming in second with 26%, ahead of McCain and slightly behind Romney. Paul's 2008 and 2012 Presidential campaigns have been known for their strong organizing ability in straw polls and caucuses. With Colorado holding a non-binding precinct straw poll on February 7th, only the 7th state in the process, it makes sense for Paul to organize here early and often.
