There is only word to describe the left side of the political divide in America today: apoplectic. After PolitiFact named their favorite fallacy, that Republicans "voted to end Medicare," the Lie Of The Year, the left has gone on the warpath against the fact-checking organization. How dare a media outlet accuse liberals of willfully propagating disinformation!

PolitiFact, a 2009 Pulitzer Prize winner, is the fact-checking arm of the St. Petersburg Times and rates statements by politicians based on the level of truth the authors find present in the statement. Awarding the Medi-scare fiction it's top spot for lies of the year is a big blow to Democrats who planned on making it a centerpiece of their messaging matrix next year. It just won't have the same resonance after being called "Lie of the Year."

Democrat Congressional candidates in Colorado, from Rep. Sal Pace (D-Urination) to Rep. Joe Miklosi (D-Denver) have made this false accusation repeatedly throughout the year. Guess it's time for them to fess up to not telling the truth.

We hope some intrepid journalists search down every Democrat who has spouted this subterfuge and asks them to explain why they lied to the people of Colorado.

Bet they'd at least get some colorful copy.

Congressman Paul Ryan, the conservative budget wunderkind who developed the entitlement reform package that Democrats have been caught lying about, had this to say on Facebook when sharing the Politifact announcement:

It’s official: The President and his party’s leaders’ false attacks on our plan to save and strengthen Medicare is the 2011 Lie of the Year. Instead of scare-tactics and demagoguery, we deserve credible, serious solutions to strengthen health and retirement security for America’s seniors.

It's not every day that conservatives get a fair shake from the mainstream media.

We don't know what makes us happier: conservatives getting a fair shake or the apoplectic liberals losing their minds over the same.
